Beginning in late March thru May we fill our calendars with clients chasing Brown Trout. It’s a great time of year for adults, and families with young anglers, to experience Lake Ontario. It’s typically calm waters due to near shore fishing, less than a few football fields off shore. We work the shoreline with one vessel on the South shore, fishing out of Sodus Point, and another vessel running out of the Little Salmon, working the Mexico Bay, North to Stony Creek and West to Oswego.
We search for pockets of warm colored water which attracts the foraging Brown Trout. Limits of three fish per person are typical and it is not rare to catch other species such as Salmon or Steelhead. Clients may choose a six hour trip targeting Brown Trout only or select a combination 8 hour trip adding Lake Trout to the mix. The six hour trips are $700 for 6 hours. The eight hour trip is $900. This covers 1-4 anglers, all gear, and fish cleaning. You may bring the 5th and 6th angler for an additional $125 each. Our prices do not include gratuities for the mate and or Captain. We catch Brown Trout from 3 – 18 lbs. Any Brown Trout over 10 lbs. is clearly a wall hanger for most.
